Poppies

It's the new year - full of possibilities, and a year set to be full of some big and exciting changes in my world, including getting the time to fully explore my own creative ventures, which is exciting but also a little scary to be entering the unknown.

I started off the Christmas/New Year period with family on the north west coast of Tasmania. Beautiful, abundant farmland surrounds was easy on the eyes as I drove the long trip from home.

Sketchbook

New print and pattern ideas from the last week.  Banksias, seed pods and twigs have become my new favourites - I have been giving these guys names of endearment as I go along eg 'Picli'.  Sometimes it feels a little mad drawing patterns, repeating the same thing over and over.

Pozo & Frond featured on Threadbound

It was a great experience to speak about my work with Jodie Cheetham of 'Threadbound' - a blog exploring Australian textiles and homes with heart.  Threadbound featured a post and some photographs of new Pozo and Frond prints this week.

I am feeling very grateful for this interest  in my work.  Threadbound is shaping up to be a beautiful, thoughtfully written blog well worth a gander!

Pozo & Frond print pillows now in online store!

Hand dyed, printed, sewn pillows featuring Frond and Pozo prints are now available on my online shop!

It has been a really fun journey creating this one of a kind series,  I am looking forward to repeating the process in 2015.

Glebe Living

It's wonderful moving to a new house and being turned on to new surroundings and a different view.  This time of year is really magic - there are some really overcast days with mist settling into the hills and mountains even though it is meant to be summer.  Longer days and heavier cloud has made dawn and dusk my favourite time of day.

On reflection

The past year has been one of excitement, freedom, and fear about designing and making again.   The main thing that has held me back is the idea of things needing to be perfect.  It has been a relief to find that things rarely are, especially when you are finding your feet.  After taking the plunge and 'just doing it' I have begun to enjoy the journey of making and designing without worry.  Recently I was thinking of above sentiments and also about designers I admire and humble beginnings.  Blogs are rad for looking back, reflecting and seeing how far yourself and others have come.

I spent much of the day printing, thinking about how I am looking forward to doing more of this!

Van Trip

Mid week mini-adventure to the North West coast of Tasmania.  This is a route I have traveled many a times with my dad/sister as I was born in Burnie and still have family there.  Very different going with friends who are keen op-shoppers and belt out 90's 'classics' for the duration of the ride.
