Playing in the attic

Hanging out at home with silly injuries making me sedentary. Plenty of time to play with ink, water colour and a thousand tiny lines.

Too much, too much

I have been overloaded over the past couple of weeks in terms of wanting to do creative things.  I keep seeing awesomeness everywhere and thinking 'that would be fun to make/draw/do' and set about starting a new project, only to think of something more worthy to spend my time on. It's not necessarily just because of the warmer weather and being out and about a lot more.  It has even become a matter of taking the odd screen shot of inspirational imagery while sitting around my bed watching movies/tv too.  It feels nice to be into constant drawing and making again, but a little but frantic all at once as I am lacking direction a bit.

Screen shot from 'That 70's Show' featuring a too-hard-to-resist knit design.

One project I was able to sink my teeth into over the past month has been creating small ornamental storage boxes using scientific wire and different coloured yarn during Full Drop's Harvest residency.  It was great to work on this project within the space, often with a lot of curiosity from passers by.  There is a fairly large elderly population in East Brunswick (where the Harvest studio is based), and I ended up getting a few lovely local ladies recognising the knit machine I was using.  It was great to have little chats about clothes they knitted in the 70s.

Fun times!

Susanna Bauer

My heart has been set aflutter by the beautiful work of Susanna Bauer.  I'm always inspired by those who take the time to ponder notice the beauty in nature and the everyday:

2013

It has been more than a little quiet around my blog recently; but that is all about to change very soon!  The end of 2012 was quite the finale to many things in my life.  It has taken a while (and lots of hula hooping/dancing/good music/wonderful friends/sunshine) to get my head back on straight.  Now that its properly affixed, things are happening and ideas are back in motion and life is taking a better, happier direction than before.  I'm glad for a bunch of reasons that the world didn't end as it was foretold to. Bring on 2013. Yiew!
